Turn your ADHD into a positive thing

ADHD can be a positive force in your life. But like a fierce stallion that needs taming, you have to control the wildness of ADHD and refine its strengths.

ADHD isn’t only frustrating to everyone around us; it’s also infuriating to the people who have it.

When you learn how to benefit from your ADHD, everyone will appreciate you more. And you will feel so much better.

This is how you do it:

  1. Know your ADHD
Most people know they have it but don’t know how it makes their day harder. You’ll manage your ADHD better when you learn more about your specific ADHD and how they affect you. If you continue to generalize your ADHD traits, or try to ignore them you won’t benefit from them.
  2. Know your strengths
Every person has something that they’re good at, but too often, people don’t access those innate talents and skills- something gets in the way. You have to know what you’re gifts are if you want to benefit from your ADHD.
  3. Fight the negative voice
Most people are held back by their negative beliefs- the stories they were told (or felt) that they’re not good enough, smart enough, or strong enough to live to their full potential. Even though they knew they were gifted, they couldn’t fight their negative beliefs telling them — you’ll never do it, you’ll never finish it, you’ll mess up, why bother. Fighting the negative voice is a daily challenge. Sometimes it requires a treatment plan that includes medication, therapy or ADHD Coaching to clear away the garbage in your head and help you to access your gifts.

As an ADHD Coach and a Mom, my heart breaks when I see talented people who can’t see their gifts (and the beauty) in themselves. Fighting through the negativity might be painful work, but it’s so worth the effort.
